And it’s there in the riffing vibe of the interviews during the closing credits, where the performers seem like they’re having fun actually creating something, rather than justsomething. Too much of this sequel falls victim to the same thing that afflicts so many sequels: Reminding you of what you loved about another movie, rather than giving you something to love inmovie. It should have been obvious from the opening bit by Reiner as DiBergi, attempting to recreate the awkward intro from, but with a half-hearted bit of slapstick that you can see coming from miles away. The originalwas about creative artists fearing that were turning into a nostalgia act.
