The London College of Fashion (LCF) by Allies and Morrison is the only project on this year’s Stirling Prize shortlist that both Artificial Intelligence and I agree on in what otherwise is a somewhat random and disappointing list. ChatGPT had the higher prediction hit-rate, but that actually made me feel a little better, given the odd selection. (RIBA Stirling prize 2025: AI picks its shortlist). Not that there aren’t good projects on the list: the LCF being a case in point. The one revamp of an existing structure that’s included – the Elizabeth Tower, London, by Purcell – is a great example of conservation and renovation but hardly your average retrofit.
