VerizonVerizon Frontline has deployed and activated more than 950 5G Ultra Wideband-enabled smartphones for the Tampa Police Department (PD) as part of a communications upgrade.
The new devices support the department’s “Connected Officer” initiative, which equips every patrol officer with a city-issued smartphone loaded with law enforcement applications.
“Our work with the Tampa Police Department highlights our commitment to supporting first responders with advanced network solutions,” said Jessica Roth, Senior Director, Verizon Public Sector.
“Equipping officers with the latest technology is vital to keeping our communities safe,” added Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw.
Verizon also recently launched its Community Disaster Resilience Initiative in Tampa, partnering with local United Way and Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
