Tenbury Town Council has been informed by Zurich Municipal Insurance that its policy no longer includes flood damage cover for its assets, putting its listed buildings are at risk. Tenbury Town Council has made ‘strong representations’ to West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin, who has raised the issue directly with Emma Hardy MP, Minister for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Treasury Select Committee. It said it would continue to press for government intervention and national support and work closely with the EA to extend and improve existing flood protection measures for council buildings. “Flooding is one of the greatest risks facing Tenbury,” said Cllr Robert Perrin, Mayor of Tenbury. “The loss of the council’s insurance flood protection leaves important council assets exposed, but we will continue to fight for the protection our town needs and deserves.”A spokesperson for Zurich Municipal said it sympathised with the town council and people of Tenbury.
