Piers Dowell was handed a fine in September after he was proven guilty of one count of speeding in July.
The 56-year-old had been caught breaking the limit on the busy A438 from Three Cocks to Glasbury while behind the wheel of a Honda Civic on January 11, magistrates in Llanelli heard from prosecutor Anwen Bowen.
He was clocked at 49 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone on the stretch, the court heard.
Magistrates said there would be no disqualification due to mitigating circumstances including being unable to drive his son to school and other activities, financial implications if he was unable to teach his courses, and the implications cancelling his courses would have on others.
Dowell, of Bockleton, Tenbury Wells, was fined £138 and received three penalty points.
