The concert of music and poetry is a collaboration between poet Tina Cole and the church's former organist, John Swindells, who set up the new church choir that now numbers 19 members. To finish, Mr Swindells will play two pieces on the famous Father Willis organ, interspersed by other poetry enthusiasts including two youngsters. They include Isabella Thornton Jones, aged 14 and a newcomer to the area, who has been writing poetry since the age of seven. The October 4 event comes hot on the heels of a more familiar event on the St Michael's calendar, Music Nouveau. A church spokesperson said the event had proven very popular with a large audience gathering to watch some "really brilliant artists" perform in the historic church.
