Bishop Hooper Church of England Primary School was inspected on June 24 and 25. The Ofsted inspectors said that the school in Ashford Carbonel, near Ludlow, is "friendly and welcoming" and "has high expectations for all its pupils who are keen to learn and achieve well." The school's personal development was rated "exceptional" and "outstanding" with the inspector saying the school's work on personal development is "impressive." Staff were also praised for teaching phonics and early reading well, enabling the pupils to become "confident, fluent readers." The school community was also praised, with "parents and carers being unanimously positive about the school," with one parent commenting: "This is a lovely small rural school that I’m lucky enough to be able to say my child attends."
