In March of this year, The Executive Office launched an awareness campaign aimed at informing victims and survivors of Historical Institutional Abuse of the support, services and advice that is available to them, as well as encouraging those who may be eligible for compensation but have not yet applied for it, to do so. The Commissioner for Survivors of Institutional Childhood Abuse (COSICA) was also appointed in December 2020 to represent the interests of victims and survivors and can help people understand how the process works and what compensation they may be entitled to. A support service for HIA victims has been established through the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS).
