A drone attack in a gang-controlled neighborhood in Haiti killed 13 people, including at least eight children, the Associated Press reports. Residents of the Cite Soleil section of Port-au-Prince blamed police, and the leader of the gang which controls the area vowed to avenge the attack. Since earlier this year, Haitian security forces have been testing whether drones can be effective against gangs. However, as James Bosworth wrote in WPR in June, these drone attacks have so far have been imprecise—as this incident appears to demonstrate. The New York Times reported Tuesday that the drones were being operated by foreign military contractors working for a company owned by Erik Prince, a prominent support of President Donald Trump.
