Residents were left displaced and a cat died after a fire engulfed a garage attached to a house in Highland Park early Monday morning, fire officials said. The Highland Park Fire Department responded around 3:03 a.m. Monday to the 80 block of Acorn Lane in Highland Park for a report of a structure fire. Police officers arrived and reported finding a fully engulfed garage fire, according to Highland Park Fire Chief Joe Schrage. Schrage said Highland Park firefighters were already on two other emergency calls at the time the fire was dispatched. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Highland Park Fire Department.
