The Bureau would assemble a team with experience in "fields such as management, technology, digital and product design, user experience, information security, civil rights, technology policy, privacy policy, humanities and social sciences, product management, software engineering, machine learning, statistics, or other related fields" to advise the FTC on technical matters. The legislation directs the FTC to create regulations that would require companies that meet certain size thresholds-- such as those with revenues greater than $50 million or more than $250 million in market capitalization-- to do impact assessments on how automated decision making systems affect the lives of consumers.
