These gaps create a deficit in understanding how election disinformation affects communities of color and diaspora communities in the U.S. that frequently interact with non-English content, and use non-Western platforms beyond Facebook and Twitter. This already exists in some capacity with the 2018 EU Code of Practice on Disinformation and the 2022 Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation, for which companies operating within the EU have agreed on standards and measures necessary to tackle disinformation on their platforms. All of these will be integral steps in improving existing content moderation processes for non-English disinformation, improving the information environment both for Asian American and Latinx communities, and for other communities of color within the U.S.
