Last August, I had the privilege of attending two significant events in Taiwan: the Asia Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG) 2024 at the National Taiwan University, and the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF). At the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF), I highlighted the importance of using international conferences as a platform for self-assessment. Meanwhile, the rise of digital sovereignty—where nations prioritize their own internet policies over global governance frameworks—was identified as a growing challenge, especially in the context of the ongoing geopolitical tensions between major powers like the US and China.
