First, we found that women of color political candidates were almost twice as likely as other candidates (i.e., men of color, white women, and white men) to be targeted with or to be the subject of mis- and disinformation. A second finding is that women of color political candidates were twice as likely as white candidates to be targeted with or be the subject of tweets that contained both mis- and disinformation and abuse. Both of these findings are summarized in Figure 2, which also shows how women of color political candidates were on average more likely to be targeted with or be the subject of tweets that contained mis- and disinformation and both mis- and disinformation and abuse than all candidates.
