If social media companies disproportionately moderate content from the political right, it is because they believe that content is bad for business—not for political reasons. Social media platforms know that increasing efforts to moderate this content will disproportionately impact conservatives, but they also know that the idea that “platforms are biased against conservatives” is very sticky, often popularized by content creators on their own platforms.
