A new 24-hour outdoor vending machine has been installed outside NeighborHealth's East Boston emergency department. This new offering, created through a partnership between NeighborHealth and the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), aims to provide accessible health resources and products to the community. The initiative marks Boston's first public health vending machine, offering free supplies such as Narcan, fentanyl test strips, safe injection kits, condoms, socks, and blankets. East Boston was selected as the location for the vending machine due to its lack of recovery resources outside the scope of services from NeighborHealth. NeighborHealth and BPHC will utilize data collection to inform the development of future service offerings and enhance community health outcomes.
