The compliance requirement was part of a November 2023 plea deal between Binance and US prosecutors. Binance was alleged to have operated with weak anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance controls. Binance was also hit with two corporate monitors after its DOJ guilty plea and a separate settlement with FinCEN. The DOJ has not yet made a final decision on the Binance monitoring arrangement, which has a three-year duration, according to the report.
