['Alexandra Cooke']
South Wales Guardian | News
On Saturday, September 27, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem will be performed at St Teilo Church, Llandeilo, celebrating Gerald Jones's vast contribution to music in Wales and beyond.
Gerald Jones's connection with music began in Pontypridd, Glamorgan, where he spent his early years, receiving his first piano lessons at the age of five.
At the tender age of twelve, he was appointed as the organist at his father's church in Aberfan.
His musical pursuits extended further as he worked with international singers such as Josephine Barstow and instrumentalists such as Canadian cellist Sharon McKinley.
Having lived a life full of notes, chords, and melodies, his impact continues to reverberate across the valleys of Wales.
