New homesites planned within conservation easement near Santa MargaritaA total of 111 homesites planned– Santa Margarita Ranch has introduced “The Preserve at Santa Margarita Ranch,” a development of heritage homesites within a 3,621-acre agricultural conservation easement. A total of 111 homesites are planned, each no larger than two acres. According to San Luis Obispo County’s agricultural cluster standards, houses in such projects are grouped on small parcels while the remainder of the property is placed under a conservation easement. In this case, more than 3,000 acres of oak woodlands and grasslands at Santa Margarita Ranch will remain undeveloped. The property is about 10 miles from San Luis Obispo and Atascadero.
