New Delhi: During 2022-23, Telangana was among as many as 16 states revenue-surplus states, while Andhra Pradesh was among 12 revenue-deficit states, according to a new report by the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India. Andhra Pradesh is also among the 10 states that received the lion’s share of the revenue deficit grants from the Finance Commission. Among revenue-surplus states, Uttar Pradesh topped the chart with Rs 37,263 crore, followed by Gujarat and Odisha, according the CAG report. The combined revenue deficit of the 12 deficit states was Rs 2,22,648 crore. According to the report, revenue deficit grants in 2022-23 was 50 per cent of the total Finance Commission grants to the states.
