Alexander Duncan, a Republican figure in Texas and reportedly affiliated with the party of President Donald Trump, took to social media platform X to voice his objection to the statue. “Why are we allowing a false statue of a false Hindu God to be here in Texas? We are a CHRISTIAN nation,” Duncan wrote, sharing a video of the statue. The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) denounced the comments as “anti-Hindu and inflammatory”, and called on the Republican Party of Texas to take disciplinary action. The statue is not only a symbol of devotion but also of unity, harmony, and inclusiveness, core tenets of the Hindu faith.
