JJ: Yeah, I mean, I think there’s this panic after you finish a book that sometimes happens where you think you’ll never write another book. And so after I finished my last book, Bearwallow, the publisher wanted to include some family photos in the book. And it seems like another thing that really motivated you was figuring out your family history as it related to slavery. And I think that’s good in some ways that we have to reckon with it. So I think the sheer presence of family land has changed in my mind, because I’ve just been thinking about how insidious the history of slavery is in everything.
