McClellan was among a group of experts – two other former FDA officials and an epidemiologist and a health security professor at Johns Hopkins University – to put together a roadmap to reopening North Carolina and other states for business. "I think that we should soon come to some kind of conclusion or idea of how we can put people back to work because the current situation we’re in is just not sustainable over a long period of time," state Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry said during a Council of State meeting Tuesday morning. McClellan said any talk of reopening the state hinges on everyone staying out of public as much as possible and practicing social distancing and other mitigating measures to help slow or stop the spread of the virus.
