The proposed 13-acre site for a Love’s Travel Stop lies just south of Sunny Acres Lane in Spanish Valley. It has been approved by The San Juan County Planning Commission but the decision is being appealed by a coalition of residents. In 2023, Seventh District Judge Don Torgerson ruled only the Planning Commission could interpret the ordinance. “They say a truck stop is the same as a gas station or a fast food restaurant. “It doesn’t seem to be changing the seriousness with which they listen to citizens.”For now, the future of the truck stop rests with Creswell.
