Lawmakers have been under orders from the state Supreme Court to draw the new congressional map, as well as new maps for the state House and Senate, after the high court found previous versions of all these maps to be unconstitutional partisan gerrymanders. Composite election results released along with the map, which break down past election results district by district, indicate Democrats would get three safe congressional districts—the 2nd Congressional District in northern Wake County, the 4th district in Durham and Orange counties, and the 12th district in Mecklenburg County.
