The award is named after Jerzy Żuławski (1874–1915), best known for Lunar Trilogy: On the Silver Globe (1903), The Conqueror (1910), The Old Earth (1911), a pioneering work of Polish science fiction. The first book in the trilogy, On the Silver Globe, was adapted as the 1988 film of the same name by Andrzej Żuławski, the author’s grand-nephew. More about the award’s namesake at the Wikipedia.
