Rather than pursuing litigation or using his tactics to block the appointments of policy-setting civilians, Tuberville is denying senior military leaders promotions they have earned in jobs critical to national security. A majority of the Navy’s ballistic missile submarines call Hood Canal home; a fleet of Boeing C-17 Globemasters can rush cargo and troops anywhere in the world from Joint Base Lewis-McChord; the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and strike group of Bremerton and Everett-based ships sail the world’s oceans in protection of the nation. Tuberville needs to end his political posturing before it does any more harm to the confidence and readiness of the country’s armed services, and the ability of men and women in uniform to protect the nation.
