Now young voters are at the heart of State Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin’s effort to challenge 60,000 voters with allegedly “incomplete voter registrations.” But their challenge omits the full cohort of voters who do not fulfill this criteria according to voter registration records: namely 159,272 voters who also possess incomplete voter registrations but are protected from disfranchisement by an agreement in 2004 that grandfathered nearly 1.1 million state voters from fulfilling the same registration requirement. The Griffin campaign omitted some 28,383 voters from their challenge who cast ballots on Election Day or at the end of early voting, citizens whose voter registrations are also currently “incomplete,” and who are not exempted by the 2004 Help America Vote Act.
