Laura Poitras, Mark Obenhaus, Cover-Up, 2025, color and black-and-white, sound, 117 minutes. With few exceptions, the strongest narrative films at Venice eschewed grand concepts in favor of human stories with recognizable stakes. Jim Jarmusch, Father Mother Sister Brother, 2025, color, sound, 110 minutes. The 82nd Venice Film Festival took place from August 27 to September 6.
