A Gathering of friends and family of James Montgomery Elliott (Jim) will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, Wakita, Oklahoma.
Friends and family will have an opportunity to remember and honor Jim during this time.
Jim was born February 16, 1946, in Syracuse, Kansas, to Mont Charles and Virginia Lee Huffman Elliott. In 1953, they moved to Wakita, Oklahoma. Jim attended Wakita Public Schools and graduated in 1964. Jim was an outstanding and accomplished athlete in high school, competing and excelling in football, basketball, and track. He attended Northwestern State College on a football scholarship and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration.
Jim returned to Wakita to step into the family business of farming and ranching.
Jim was always a strong advocate of physical fitness. As an adult, he ran, lifted weights, and became a fierce tennis player. He played often each week with a group of close friends who encouraged each other in the mastery of the game.
Jim played in tournaments in Oklahoma and Kansas and was ranked highly for many years in each age division as he celebrated more birthdays.
Jim loved his family and extended family dearly. He will be greatly missed by numerous cousins and many friends. Jim was preceded by his parents and brother, Gary Elliott. He leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary Elliott Perigo (Richard); two nieces, Amanda Arthur (Dan) and Elizabeth Reim (Gavyn); two nephews, James Barnes (Lindsey) and Jon Elliott; three great-nephews, Isaac Arthur, Carter Arthur, and Ryker Reim.
Memorials may be made to Community Health Center, 1153 Cherokee St., Wakita, OK, 73771.
