The Walk-In Access program in Minnesota allows individuals access to certain acres for hunting starting this month. ADVERTISEMENTThe Walk-in Access program started in 2011 by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and as of Sept. 1, there are more than 37,000 acres open to those with Walk-In Access validation. The program was given a boost in the first year through a USDA Voluntary Access Program grant. Individuals with a Walk-In Access validation can access sites from Sept. 1 to May 31 from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset with no landowner contact necessary. This map highlights the counties (in yellow) that have some acres of Walk-In Access hunting available.
