For many farmers, the loss of fields means a loss of revenue.
ADVERTISEMENTTony Richards, treasurer and director of the North Harvest Bean Growers Association, said the impact has been devastating.
Richards said he will not know the full damage until harvest, but he can already see the significant losses.
He is one of countless North Dakota farmers who lost crops by the acre because of this summer's severe weather.
Tony Richards’ dry bean fields in Hope, N.D., were ripped apart by June winds and killed by September frost, leaving him with half the normal yield and major losses.
