July 24, 1929 - September 12, 2025 The graveside service for Joan Booze Turner, 96-year-old Ames resident, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the Ames Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev. Gordon Epps will officiate. One of six children, Joan was born to Rita (Coats) and Everette Booze on July 24, 1929, in McWillis, Oklahoma. She passed away on September 12, 2025, at Bass Hospital. Joan attended school at Oakdale and Elm Flat, moving to Lahoma, Oklahoma, in 1942 and graduating with the class of 1949 at Lahoma High School. She married AI Turner March 31, 1951. They made their home in Ames, Oklahoma, where she lived until her death. Joan and AI had 54 happy years together. They loved dancing and danced at least once a week well into their retirement years. They loved to camp with family and friends. Joan loved to grow and share her flowers. She enjoyed mowing her yard until a couple of years ago when her health would no longer allow her to. Joan worked for 28 years for Ames and Cimarron School, retiring at age 90. Joan is survived by her three children, Johnny and Pat Turner, Danny and Nancy Turner, and Debbie Jantz and Mike; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Jenny, Amy, and Jon Mark, Jason, Scott, and Lacey; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, John Booze; and sister, Patsy Dresser. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband AI Turner, brothers Everette (Junior) and Jack Booze and sister Veta Cornish. Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the Ames Funeral Fund.
