Policy Options
Generally speaking, there are four types of staffers: those in an MP’s constituency office, ministerial staffers, Senate staffers and staffers in an MP’s Ottawa office. The roles of these two types of staffers are relatively well known, so this article will expand on the work of an MP’s Ottawa staffers. If their party is in government, it is largely staffers (working with a department’s public servants) who write and implement the policies so that the MP’s or minister’s objectives are achieved.
