The local authority has advised residents that the hanging of flags, notices and posters on council property is not allowed unless prior permission has been given. Further to this, council bosses say any unauthorised displays in the area will be removed. It comes as Scottish Saltire flags have been appearing on lampposts and hanging from buildings across the country in a show of ‘national pride’. It is part of a trend across the rest of the UK in recent weeks, which began with St George’s flags being flown in England alongside Union Flags. Meanwhile, Glasgow City Council leader, Susan Aitken, said the removal of the flags was not a priority for them.
