The Madison Medical Center board of trustees braced for the recent budget bill passed by the Trump administration, anticipating its effects on the hospital’s budget in their last meeting.
Since so many rural hospitals rely on Medicaid, experts and administrators believe it could close them down.
According to Tidwell in an earlier interview, about a quarter of MCC’s funding comes from Medicaid patients.
Later in the meeting, Tidwell talked about the low prospects for installing an inpatient hospice, which she had heard some inquiries about.
She said the numbers in St. Louis for inpatient hospice care, following these restrictions, were actually very low, with only 30 beds in the area.
