A video that went viral in the month of May showing 20-year-old Emily Weinman from Philadelphia getting violently arrested in Jersey Shore including getting punched by a police officer, Thomas Cannon, drew a lot of negative attention towards the use of excessive force in police procedures and generated endless discussions. Recent reports indicate that Weinman is now facing charges for assaulting a police officer, something which has managed to stir up even more controversy in light of the video’s context. After his client got indicted by a grand jury on two counts of aggravated assault on police officers, lawyer Stephen Dicht stated: “We welcome the chance to vindicate Emily and show that police are the culprit in this case, not her.”
