The most challenging of the runs saw him crossing the western Yorkshire Dales from Kirkby Stephen to Settle, then on to Gargrave. The run, of just under 50 miles, or 75km, included a total climb of 7,500 feet across seven and a half summits. The summits included Wild Boar Fell, Great Knoutberry Hill and arguably, the most popular of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Penyghent. The diminutive ‘half summit’ of Haw Crag just outside Gargrave was included by Tony to make a total of seven and a half hills. All three were completed in daylight hours with Tony using early morning trains to the start, and included evening runs back home to Gargrave.
