And so, we wanted to start with the stakes to understand what are the sort of concrete problems that people are facing now, often which are being treated as things that we're facing in a contemporaneous moment and understand that, when you look at things in the past, you begin to see how contingent, that things could be otherwise and indeed were otherwise. That's really part one of the book, is people looking at the world and then taking the latest technology of the day in terms of some novel mathematical methods and getting your hands on some data and then arguing that those new technologies or those new data sets somehow make your prior understanding of the world science.
