Gus Hurwitz on Technology and the Law
['Justin Hendrix']
The Tech Policy Press Podcast
The benefits to society from giving engineers a incremental bit of knowledge about how law and politics works significantly outweighs the benefits to society from giving lawyers and law students an incremental bit more knowledge about how technology works. The value of things like the trolley problem and talking to engineers about technology ethics early on isn't in my view to get them to be more ethical designers, but it's to understand the role of the engineer in society as part of this much larger system of expressing and capturing the values of our society.
