A Conversation with Meredith Whittaker, President of Signal
['Justin Hendrix']
The Tech Policy Press Podcast
So we have a little over 40- there's give or take there, but incredibly small for an organization developing and delivering a high availability app that needs to meet the norms and expectations of messaging, or those who want to use it for ideological reasons can't use it because the friends who don't understand how it works and just want a message won't use it either. So not only do we not, we protect message contents with the Signal protocol, we have developed novel cryptographic techniques to protect metadata so we don't know who you are, we don't know who you're talking to, we don't know who's in your contact list or your groups, and we don't collect the kind of analytics and telemetry data that most other apps do.
