I am the project's rapporteur, which is to say that I have been observing many of the meetings that have taken place between the Meta researchers and the outside academic researchers, as well as some internal meetings that's the outside academic researchers have had. So, there was the researchers, the outside academic researchers had control rights over the research design of the project. The area that is still a black box, and I point out this briefly in the piece in Science, is that some former Meta employees I talked to told me that the Meta researchers were committed scholars, committed research professionals.
