And the process by which people spread information from person to person, we had a term for that too, which is rumors, unverified information spread from person to person because people are interested, and they also do it altruistically, they want to help their community, and they might do it because the thing is sensational and shocking and everybody wants to hear about the affair that the politician had with the teacher or whatever.
