What better place, what better day, to dream again of God’s promise of peace for individuals, communities, and nations? Peace does not wait for perfection. Our task is to transform our stones and places of despair into spaces of God’s peace, God’s house. Jacob’s dream reveals to us that God’s promise does not remain in heaven but descends into our world. Christ invites us to that peace which is not the mere absence of conflict but into his presence of justice, forgiveness, and truth.
