Haven Middle School Principal Christopher Latting says a Haven student was struck by a car Monday morning while crossing McCormick Boulevard on a bicycle.
The student was crossing the intersection of Prairie Avenue and McCormick Boulevard and emergency services and school personnel responded to the scene, Latting said.
The student, an 11-year-old sixth grader, sustained an apparent right wrist injury and was transported to a local hospital for additional care by a guardian, Police Cmdr.
Ryan Glew said.
Glew said the student was crossing at the marked pedestrian crossing at the intersection when he was struck just before 8 a.m.“The safety of our students and community remains our highest priority,” Latting and Assistant Principal Thomas Smith wrote in a message to parents.
