Evanston police say two Chicago teens are in custody after police responded to calls Monday of juveniles spraying pepper spray into the air at two Evanston grocery stores. Ryan Glew said police responded to a call at 11:40 a.m. to Jewel-Osco in the 1200 block of Chicago Avenue for a report of two juveniles using the irritant spray. Glew said that no customers at Jewel-Osco were affected by the spray. One customer was transported to a hospital for exposure to mace at Whole Foods, Glew said, and a second customer called later in the afternoon reporting burning eyes. Glew said that no one person appeared to be a target, and an investigation is ongoing.
