Former Union High Alumni and Standout James Mitchell recently signed with the Carolina Panthers. Mitchell also a former Virginia Tech Hokie would go onto be drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 5th round (177th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers announced the signing on Tuesday – in a deal which gives Mitchell the Southwest Virginia native an opportunity to report to OTA’s this summer and fight to earn a spot on the team with a one-year contract.
