Rowley - Jean Claire (Spade) Meurer, 87, of Rowley, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Avita of Newburyport. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on October 22, 1937, to Robert and L. May Spade. She married her high school sweetheart, Glenn W. Meurer, Sr., and they enjoyed 59 years together prior to his passing in 2016. Jean shared many talents and hobbies with her family and friends, including sewing, baking, gardening, photography, painting and playing piano. She especially enjoyed making things for her grandchildren, from personalized birthday cakes to Halloween costumes. She also had a special place in her heart for cats and adopted many over the years. Jean worked for many years as the secretary to the principal at Pine Grove Elementary School in Rowley. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Glenn and her son-in-law, Richard Holmquist. She is survived by her children, Glenn Jr. and his wife Barbara, Diana Holmquist, Douglas and his wife Michele, and Sandra Ginsberg and her husband Mark; her eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Carolyn, Eric, Katie, Tony, Ian, Alison, Sarah, Lauren, Andy, and Alan, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Alex and Riley Ann.
