The Ontario government is contributing $1.5 million through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund to assist with the project, part of its broader plan to strengthen the province’s economy and food manufacturing industry. Hilton Foods’ regional CEO, Matt Lee, described the project as a long-term commitment to Ontario’s food supply chain, promising innovation, quality and efficiency for Canadian families. The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, launched in 2019, supports local businesses with financial and advisory services to boost investment and workforce development in the region. Applications for the next Regional Development funding round opened on June 19, 2025.
