GEA, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of food processing technology, will deliver equipment and services for both the farming and processing components. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with production of milk powder set to start in late 2027. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 100,000 tonnes of milk powder annually — enough to meet roughly half of Algeria’s domestic demand. Algeria is currently the world’s third-largest importer of milk powder. The new facility, operated under a joint venture called Baladna Algeria S.P.A., aims to improve national self-sufficiency and create about 5,000 local jobs.
